July Gathering Recap

The July gathering was the first meeting after a long hiatus, and it looks like we're off to a great new start! Over 30 Edmonton Flash developers were treated to two great sessions.

Thank you to Skye Bowes and Jordan Dubuc of XGen Studios for their talk on developing real-time multiplayer games in Flash. We hope to have their slides and source code available soon.

Also, a big thank you to Perry Shulack of Critical Fusion for his session exploring a recent project of his for the WCB. You can view his slides here.

The new format seemed to work well, with a lot of networking and beer drinking (both good things!), so we'll be sticking with it in the future. That means two 15-45 minute sessions (or a two part one hour session) with a 30-45 minute social intermission. I'm hoping this encourages networking and community building, and makes it much easier for people to prepare short sessions on their work or specific elements of Flash (and related technology).

If you're interested in presenting a 15-60 minute talk at EFUG in the next few months, I'd love to hear from you. I'd also be happy to provide some editorial support for your session.

The next gathering will be on the third Monday of August (August 21) at 7pm. I'll post / send out more information when we get closer to the date.
