Branching Experiment: Ink Test

Continuing to play with my AS3 branching library. Focusing on texture and style, rather than the structure of the branching right now. This is an attempt to mimic ink on paper with bleed, fade, spatters, and “wiggle”, while keeping runtime performance acceptable. I’ll probably keep tweaking for a bit, then re-envision the logic for tree drawing that I used in my Sakura experiments.

Update: here’s a variation with a little bit looser constraints, as per feedback from one of the developers on my team. It’s a little bit more interesting looking, but I personally find the version above more aesthetically pleasing.

I'd love to see that with random intervals of no ink, specially at the beginning -- i.e., as if the brush was being lifted from the surface for a bit every now and then, but still doing the branching curves.

Meaning, instead of =========------------.......

Something like === === === =-- --- ---- ..... .... .....

This is simply amazing! I'm wondering if you are planning on releasing the source to your Sakura tree any time soon? I'd really like to try to incorporate the tree as some sort of a twisted navigation experiment where each flower is a node or something.. anyways, keep up the great work!
